Samson Adaji Adaidu, the uncle of late corps member Salome Adaidu, who was brutally murdered, beheaded, and dismembered by her boyfriend, Timileyin Ajayi, has alleged that the suspect waa preparing her remains for consumption.
The tragic incident occurred during a visit Salome paid to Ajayi at his residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Ajayi was apprehended by police on Sunday, January 12, while attempting to dispose of Salome’s dismembered body.
On Tuesday, Ajayi was presented to the public at the police headquarters in Lafia. Alongside him were the knives and machetes reportedly used in the crime.
Ajayi, who was attacked by irate mob prior to his arrest, confessed to the killing in an interview with the newsmen.
In a press statement, Samson Adaidu described the horrific incident, shedding light on the brutality of the crime and the character of the perpetrator.
“We discovered this through the Nigerian Police, and the position of the family is that we are expecting justice from the police,” he said.
“He has succeeded in destroying our daughter. Not ordinary killing— butchered into pieces. He cut her into more than 50 pieces, and if you look at the whole thing, it means he was preparing it for consumption. He cut and left it in about six polythene bags. It looks like when people contribute money to buy a cow for a period, and those Fulanis come and share the meat among contributors. That is exactly what he did,” he added.
Adaidu shared chilling details about what was discovered at the crime scene.
“When we went to his room, we discovered it was not the first time he is doing this. He is a professional in this. He has a place where he arranged all the knives he used. There is a basin he put the knives in. There is a lot of evidence that shows this is not the first person he has destroyed.”
Further investigations revealed Ajayi’s history of fraudulent activities. Adaidu stated, “He is known to be a fraudster. He deceived many churches to collect their money and run away. They called him a gospel musician, but on the ground, they discovered he is a fraudster. He has duped many people, committed a lot of crimes, before landing himself in what he is doing now.”
Expressing suspicion about Ajayi’s motives, Adaidu added, “I’m suspecting him to be a human eater because the way he prepared those things, it is not meant for any other thing—it is meant for consumption.”
Adaidu commended the efforts of the Divisional Police Officer of the New Karu Division in handling the case.
“The DPO did tremendous work. I was shocked at his efforts on this issue. He started this case with no member of the family to fuel him or pay for paperwork. He didn’t look to me for anything. When the call came that my daughter had an accident and was in the hospital, I came and discovered it was not an accident—it was a case of murder. When I saw his efforts to get the situation under control, I said yes, he tried. I even recommended him to the Area Commander in Nasarawa State.”
Adaidu expressed his hopes for a swift and fair resolution as the case is now in the hands of the State Commissioner of Police.
“I am looking forward to seeing a good result from his superiors as we hand the case over to the State Commissioner of Police.”
The family continues to grieve and call for justice, urging law enforcement to ensure that Timileyin Ajayi faces the full weight of the law for his heinous crime.
