Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has revealed that he spent the night at the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State, on the wedding day of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
Akpabio made this disclosure on Thursday during a plenary session at the National Assembly, emphasizing his close relationship with Natasha’s husband.
He noted that his presence at their wedding underscored his friendship with the family.
He stated, “I slept in Dangote cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State on the night of Senator Natasha’s wedding because the Kogi airport lights were in a poor state.”
Meanwhile, the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions had put forward a recommendation for Natasha’s suspension from the Senate for six months.
The committee also advised that she issue an apology to the Senate for what was described as “disrespecting the Senate.”
As part of the suspension, Natasha’s salary and security privileges would be revoked, and she would be prohibited from accessing the National Assembly during the suspension period.
After deliberation, the Senate adopted the committee’s recommendation, leading to Senate President Akpabio formally announcing the Kogi lawmaker’s suspension.
