The Nigerian Air Force has announced that 1,190 recruits are set to graduate on Saturday, marking the completion of their training at the Military Training Centre in Kaduna.
This was disclosed by the Commandant of the MTC, Air Commodore Hadi Ahmed, during the Beating of the Retreat ceremony held on Thursday in honour of Basic Military Training Course 44/2023.
“The training of recruits in MTC is in line with one of the key drivers of the Chief of Air Staff Command Philosophy, which is Deliberate Training and Mission-oriented Force development,” Ahmed stated.
He further explained that the training focused on six core objectives: physical fitness, mental alertness, weapon handling, field training, discipline, regimentation, and teamwork, all cultivated through intensive drills.
Ahmed expressed appreciation to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, for his support in providing the necessary resources to achieve the centre’s training goals.
The Guest of Honour, Air Vice Marshal Usman Abdullahi, Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, highlighted the significance of the ‘beating of the retreat’ ceremony, noting that it signified the conclusion of formal training for the recruits.
He urged the recruits to remain steadfast in their loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and their subordination to civil authority.
“Always prioritise national and service interests ahead of personal interests, and be prepared to defend Nigeria’s territorial integrity at all costs,” he advised.
Abdullahi also encouraged the recruits to embrace excellence and strive for professionalism throughout their careers.
“As you leave the training ground in a few days, remember to be good ambassadors of the MTC,” he stated.
