The wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has been abducted from her home in the Arepo area of Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued to PUNCH Online on Friday.
According to the police, the abduction occurred late Thursday night when four masked men attacked the victim outside her residence.
The men reportedly dragged Mrs. Odumosu from her Lexus Jeep before taking her through a swamp to an undisclosed location.
Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating, “Information was received regarding the kidnapping of Mrs. Odumosu, a resident of Aminu Street in Arepo. Reports indicate that she was about to enter her home when four masked men attacked her, forcibly removed her from her vehicle, and transported her through the swamp to an unknown location.”
Odutola added that the divisional police officer, along with a team of officers, has been dispatched to the scene, where they are currently conducting a search of the swampy bush area.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, PhD, has been briefed, and all covert operations have been activated, including the deployment of digital intelligence resources, to ensure her safe and unharmed rescue,” Odutola said.
Additionally, local chiefs from the Warewa and Maaba communities have been contacted to deploy local security forces to assist in the search efforts.
