Reality TV star and actress, Bambam, recently shared a harrowing experience on her Instagram account, where she intervened to save a mother of three from attempting suicide.
The woman, a Malawian national living in Lagos, had been pushed to the brink due to her husband’s alleged infidelity and emotional abuse.
Bambam, who was on a movie set in the Lekki-Ajah area, recounted how she discovered the woman trying to hang herself from a GP tank near the location.
According to her, the woman’s husband, who reportedly has multiple children from other relationships, had been emotionally tormenting her.
Sharing the incident, Bambam said:
“I heard a woman who climbed a GP tank, tied a rope around her neck, and was about to jump down to kill herself. She said her husband commanded her to do it. She has children in that house, one of whom is still breastfeeding. The man has baby mamas and is using every means to frustrate her. This woman is not Nigerian; she’s from Malawi and felt completely alone.”
Distressed by the situation, Bambam appealed to the public for help.
“Please, guys, for the safety of women, our mental health, and our children, I need someone to recommend a rehabilitation center. Anywhere, we can find someone who is trained and can manage one who is a suicide watch.
“I am on a movie set, and the house behind the house, I heard a woman who climbed a GP tank tied a rope around her neck and was going to jump down and kill herself. She said her husband commanded her to climb that thing and kill herself and she has children in that house. This man has baby mamas and all that he is using to frustrate her, and she isn’t even Nigerian; she is from Malawi. She felt alone and was going to kill herself. Please someone recommend me a suicide watch mentor and somewhere we can take her and her children.
“I need a phone number or address, a helpline, or a suicide watch center. This woman almost took her life at Megamound Estate Lekki-Ajah.
“Her husband, 2 brothers, and side chic are inside that house with her 3 children!!! 1 of them is still breastfeeding! People are evil! How have we lost our humanity”, she wrote.
The reality star who cried out for help has been met with solutions from Nigerians during an Instagram live session.
Updating her followers, she wrote: “I have spoken to @justadetoun and Lagos state has taken over the case. The woman and her three sons are safe. God bless everyone who called and reached out. Thank you ma @omonioboli and the team who prioritised the case at the expense of production and stayed on the call till we sorted this family out. There are still kind people in this world.
“Please don’t take your life because of one stupid son or daughter of Adam please, because these people that made tonight happen, there is still faith in humanity.
“I’m at peace now. Prolonged exposure to domestic violence both physical and emotional can lead women to have mental breakdowns. Speak up and look out for women around you. Lagos, Nigeria thank you”.
