A student of the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Agbor, Osato Edobor, is facing disciplinary action for allegedly making an unauthorized social media post during the official visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, in Asaba.
According to a letter issued by the school’s management, Edobor was found recording and posting a video on TikTok while singing along to a song during the First Lady’s arrival at the Dome Event Center for the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme.
The event, which took place on March 25, 2025, involved the distribution of 10,000 professional kits (Crocs and scrubs) to midwives across the South-South region.
The school authority cited the act as a violation of its disciplinary code, referencing the student handbook’s standardized disciplinary actions.
The letter, signed by the institution’s management, stated that Edobor’s action was deemed “malicious” and in breach of the school’s regulations regarding unauthorized recordings and online publications.
“The student is required to provide a written explanation in triplicate within 24 hours of receiving this letter, detailing why disciplinary action should not be taken against them,” the statement read.
A viral video circulating on social media on Wednesday captured students of the Delta State School of Nursing rejecting Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, as their “mother” during her visit to the state.

Oluremi Tinubu was in Delta State as part of her Renewed Hope Initiative project. During her visit, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori praised her efforts, stating that the nation was experiencing a significant transformation in the health sector.
In the viral clip, the event’s Master of Ceremony introduced Oluremi Tinubu as “everyone’s mother,” a common title for First Ladies.
When the MC declared, “Na our mama be this” (translated as “This is our mother”), the students responded in unison, “Na your mama be this” (translated as “This is your mother”), signalling their rejection of the title.
While the students’ exact reason for rejecting the First Lady as their “mother” remains unclear, the incident comes amid widespread discontent over the economic hardship and insecurity plaguing Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
