The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs has announced that the Ramadan fast will continue on Sunday, March 30, 2025, as the moon signaling the end of the fasting period has not yet been sighted in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Saturday, the Secretary-General of the NSCIA, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized the importance of adhering to the moon sighting guidelines.
He urged Muslims across the country to look for the crescent of Shawwal on the 29th day of Ramadan.
“If Muslims sight the crescent in accordance with the moon sighting and verification standards, then His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, would declare Sunday, March 30, 2025, as the 1st of Shawwal and the day of Eid-ul-Fitr,” Oloyede stated.
