The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has named Mr. Olalere Olayinka as his Senior Special Assistant for Public Communication and Social Media.
The announcement, made via a statement from the Director of Press in the minister’s office, Mr. Anthony Ogunleye, highlights that this appointment is effective immediately.
Olayinka is a seasoned professional in media and communications, with a career spanning over two decades.
His experience in journalism, public relations, and media management positions him well for his new role within the FCT Administration.
Previously, he served as the spokesperson for former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, playing a significant role in managing communications for the state government.
The statement partly read, “The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has appointed Mr Olalere James Olayinka as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, effective immediately.”
Olayinka has held several influential roles throughout his career, showcasing his expertise in both the public and private sectors.
His notable positions include his ongoing role as CEO of Our Peoples FM, Ado-Ekiti, since 2018, and his role as Publisher of Wazobia Reporters Online.
He also served as Special Assistant on Public Communications to the Ekiti State Governor from 2014 to 2018 and was Director-General of the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State in the same period. In 2018, he was Media Adviser to the Minister of State for Works.
Additionally, he was Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Class Magazine from 2003 to 2007.
The statement details Olayinka’s background, “Born on October 1, 1972, Mr. Olayinka hails from Okemesi, Ekiti State and is a graduate of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos, where he obtained a diploma in Journalism.”
As Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Olayinka is tasked with shaping communication strategies aimed at enhancing public understanding of government initiatives.
His role will be instrumental in building a closer connection between the FCT Administration and its residents, fostering transparency, and improving public engagement on various government actions.
