Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has urged his team to shift focus to their next 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe, following their much-needed victory over Rwanda.
Nigeria secured their first win of the qualifying campaign with a 2-0 triumph against the Amavubi at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday night.
Star striker Victor Osimhen delivered a match-winning performance, netting both goals for the three-time African champions.
The victory propelled the Super Eagles to fourth place in Group C, with six points from five matches.
With momentum now on their side, they will aim to build on this success when they host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next Tuesday.
Looking ahead, Chelle emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and preparation.
“There is a second game on March 25th, so we need to be ready for this game,” the Malian tactician said after the win over Rwanda.
He also refrained from critiquing Rwanda’s performance, instead choosing to focus on his own squad.
“I don’t want to talk about the weaknesses of a great team like Rwanda. My job is to analyze my players. The coach of Rwanda, that’s his job,” Chelle added.
