The presidential candidate of African Action Congress in the 2023 general election, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma attempted to assassinate the National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero.
Sowore made this allegation via post on his X, formerly Twitter handle, urging NLC to shut down Nigeria until Uzodinma is removed from office.
Some thugs had disrupted NLC’s protest in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
The NLC president was in Owerri to mobilize Imo workers for a mega protest rally in the state over an alleged violation and abuse of rights and privileges of workers by the state government.
The violence that ensued during the rally led to men of the Nigeria Police Force to arrest and whisking away Ajaero.
Amid backlash from some Nigerians, the police quickly denied arresting Ajaero, stating that the NLC president was taken into custody following an attack on him.
In his raaction, Sowore wrote, “This barbarism is unacceptable, @HopeUzodinma sent thugs to assault and possibly assassinate @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero.
“The @NLCHeadquarters ought to shut down the country until the Imo State Governor and his thugs are removed from office. #RevolutionNow.”
