A 26-year-old nurse American who gained a large following on TikTok by bravely chronicling her fight against colorectal cancer, Bailey Hutchins, has passed away after a two-year battle with the disease.
Her husband, Caden Hutchins, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram.
“I am devastated to say that my Bailey B has passed away last night,” he wrote. “She fought such a tough incredible fight these past two years and she’s no longer suffering from all the torturous pain she has endured during this journey.”
The message was accompanied by a photo of Bailey walking toward the mountains.
“Being your husband and caregiver has been such a blessing to me,” Caden continued. “I am still in such disbelief and in denial that I just lost my best friend.”
He praised Bailey’s unwavering faith, calling it powerful enough to “move mountains,” and described her as an inspiration. “Unfortunately, God had bigger plans for you Up Above,” he added, signing off with, “Until we meet again.”
Bailey’s death was also announced on her TikTok account, @healingwithbailey, where she had built a community of over 170,000 followers by raising awareness about cancer symptoms.
“Last night our Bailey B passed on to Heaven. Although we selfishly wanted her here forever, we are at peace knowing that she no longer has to endure any pain or suffering,” Caden wrote, sharing a video of their wedding day in 2023.
The past month had been especially tough for Bailey and her loved ones. “It’s been an incredible journey to watch, and I am so honored to be your husband and caregiver,” Caden wrote.
He vowed to keep her memory alive, “Her spirit is as radiant as the sun. Bailey is such a light, and we plan on continuing to let it shine on. Myself, and our families will share her platform to tell stories about great memories and knowledge passed on to us from B. She was and always will be such a spark to so many; her story will live on.”
In January 2023, at just 24 years old, the Florida native was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer after doctors discovered a large tumor obstructing her colon.
“I have been in the hospital for the last 5 days and have undergone 2 surgeries to identify and remove a tumor in my colon,” she wrote at the time. “I currently have Stage three colon cancer which has obviously devastated me and my family.”
Her TikTok followers witnessed her journey through countless updates.
In early January, Bailey revealed her health had taken a serious turn, requiring multiple surgeries.
On January 26, Caden provided an update, sharing how they were managing each day as it came.
“Bailey’s doing okay. I’m doing okay. We’re just doing the best we can right now. Just focusing on friends and family and just being present in the moment,” he said, concluding with a heartfelt message: “We just want to say we love you guys,” before a clip of him and Bailey giving two thumbs up.
Bailey’s bravery and light will continue to be remembered and celebrated by those who followed her journey and those closest to her.
