A South Carolina pastor in the United States, whose wife, Mica Miller, took her own life after serving him with divorce papers, is now facing serious accusations of raping a 15-year-old girl about 30 years ago and using his church as a “sexual playground,” a new lawsuit claims.
A lawsuit filed Tuesday in Horry County Circuit Court accuses Pastor John Paul Miller, 44, of assaulting a young girl in 1998 while she attended Sunday school at his father’s church.
According to the complaint, Miller, who was 19 at the time, allegedly led the girl—identified in court documents as “Jane Doe”—into his father’s office at the All Nations Church before forcing her outside to his truck, where the alleged assault took place.
The lawsuit states that the girl was a virgin at the time of the alleged 1998 assault.
Years later, during a visit to Myrtle Beach in 2023, she claims she encountered Miller—now a controversial pastor at Solid Rock Church—who assaulted her again.
According to the suit, the pastor initially leaned in for a hug but then abruptly shoved “his hand down her pants touching her genitals without consent.”
More than a year after the killing, two suspected gang members have been charged in the murder of former Georgia high school soccer star Brianna Long.
The lawsuit claims that after the alleged assault, Miller attempted to justify his actions by referencing a Bible verse, telling the accuser: “No man is without sin and temptation. God understands that.”
In addition to Miller, the suit names All Nations Church and Solid Rock Church as defendants, accusing church leaders of concealing a pattern of alleged abuse spanning years.
“This church was JPM’s sexual playground,” the suit claimed.
A mug shot of John-Paul Miller has surfaced following new allegations against him.
Miller, who faced unrelated assault charges last year, is now accused in a lawsuit of raping a 15-year-old girl decades ago.
The alleged victim revealed that after learning of Miller’s wife’s death last year, she experienced “immense guilt” and felt that if she had spoken up earlier, she might have prevented further harm.
“She had heard that there were multiple other victims over the years,” her attorney Randall Hood told WBTV. “And it is her hope that in bringing light to the situation, that it will keep it from ever happening again.”
Miller has been under national scrutiny since April 27, 2024, when his 30-year-old wife was discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head at North Carolina’s Lumber River State Park—just days after serving him with divorce papers.
While the Robeson County medical examiner ruled Mica’s death a suicide, her family has urged authorities to “deeply” investigate, citing allegations that the pastor had abused her.
In the months leading up to her death, Mica had contacted police multiple times, accusing her husband of abuse and claiming he had “groomed” her as a teenager before they married in 2017.
Miller has strongly denied any allegations of grooming or abuse. He has also stated that his wife struggled with mental illness, had made prior suicide attempts, and was hospitalized multiple times.
When contacted by the local outlet, Miller’s attorney refused to provide any comment on the rape lawsuit.
