The meeting is taking place at Diriyah Palace in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, with key figures in attendance.
Representing the U.S. are National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
On the Russian side, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov, and prominent investor Dmitry Rybolovlev are participating.
According to Sky News, officials from both nations are scheduled to engage in talks later today, focusing on restoring diplomatic relations and laying the groundwork for potential negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has expressed optimism about the discussions, suggesting that they could pave the way for an in-person meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin “very soon.”
