Two factory workers in Lagos tragically lost their lives on Saturday after falling into a diesel reservoir at a facility in the Ikosi area.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident, which occurred around 10 a.m.
According to Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, preliminary investigations revealed that the first worker fell into the reservoir while conducting repair work. The second worker reportedly fell while attempting to rescue his colleague.
“They were rescued by the LASEMA Response Team with assistance from the Lagos State Fire Service and immediately transported to the hospital for further medical attention,” Oke-Osanyintolu explained.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save them, both workers were pronounced dead at the hospital.
“Sadly, despite all sustained medical efforts, the two male adults succumbed to their injuries,” the LASEMA official stated.
