Football fans on across various social media platforms have tipped Paul Onuachu’s sensational acrobatic winner for Trabzonspor in their 2-1 win over Konyaspor in a Super Lig to win the prestigious Puskas award.
In September, the Nigerian striker joined Trabzonspor after a goalless and assist-free stint at Southampton.
Signed for £18m from Genk by former manager Nathan Jones, he struggled to make an impact. Departing Southampton due to new boss Russell Martin’s signings, he found success in the Turkish league, scoring six goals in eight games.
His recent brace, including a remarkable backheel volley in a 2-1 win over Konyaspor, drew comparisons to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Oliver Giroud’s spectacular goals.
European newspapers, including Sky Sports Italy, highlighted the striker’s incredible performance.
“Onuachu with the scorpion goal for Trabzonspor,” Sky Sports Italy posted on X.

Trabzonspor’s coach, Abdullah Avci, labeled Onuachu’s acrobatic goal as the ‘Goal of the Year,’ and the club is confident that his striking effort is a strong contender for the FIFA Puskas Goal of the Year Award.
