Troops of the Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have apprehended a 25-year-old woman, Shamsiyya Ahadu, suspected of smuggling ammunition for terrorists in Zamfara State.
The arrest, made on December 28, was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday in Gusau by Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the operation’s Joint Media Coordination Centre.
According to the statement, Ahadu and her accomplice, Ahmed Husaini, were detained at a roadblock in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area.
They were reportedly transporting 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines, allegedly intended for delivery to the notorious terrorist leader, Bello Turji.
“Her arrest followed an intelligence report regarding the movement of terrorist logistics along the road from Kware to Badarawa communities in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State,” the statement revealed.
Acting on the tip-off, troops swiftly set up a checkpoint, leading to the capture of the suspects and the interception of the illicit materials.
The suspects are currently undergoing investigation. Lt. Col. Abdullahi reaffirmed the military’s determination to dismantle terrorist networks and disrupt the illegal flow of arms and ammunition within its operational zone.
“The troops remain committed to eradicating terrorist activities and preventing the illegal movement of arms. We encourage members of the public to continue providing credible information that will assist in the arrest of wanted terrorists and their collaborators,” he added.
The statement also acknowledged the ongoing support from local communities, which it described as instrumental in achieving the operation’s objectives.
