President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to foster love, peace, and unity during the Christmas season, urging citizens to remain optimistic about the nation’s future despite current challenges.
In his Christmas message, released on Tuesday, Tinubu described the season as a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness and the strength of humanity’s shared faith.
“Christmas signifies the fulfillment of divine prophecy and represents the triumph of love, peace, and unity,” he said. “It reminds us that even in the darkest moments, light will prevail, offering solace and hope.”
The President expressed sorrow over recent tragedies in Ibadan, Okija, and Abuja, which claimed innocent lives. He extended his condolences to affected families, emphasizing the need for collective prayers against such incidents.
“Our hearts are with those who have suffered from these unfortunate events. May we never experience such losses again in our communities,” he stated.
Tinubu also sympathized with families who have faced pain and loss due to floods, fires, or accidents this year, encouraging them to draw strength from faith and the support of loved ones.
“Our compassionate and merciful God remains a source of strength for the weak, the brokenhearted, and the sick,” he said.
The President called on Nigerians to extend kindness and support to those in need, stressing that acts of compassion are not defined by wealth.
“A smile, a kind word, or a gesture of encouragement can uplift even those with modest means,” he noted.
Tinubu also highlighted the sacrifices of Nigeria’s armed forces and urged citizens to pray for their safety as they defend the nation. He further called for prayers for leaders working toward the country’s development.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment to national progress, Tinubu assured Nigerians of a brighter future.
“Nigeria is on a path of restoration and progress. Let us renew our hope and confidence in a prosperous nation,” he declared.
For those traveling during the festive season, the President wished safe journeys and emphasized the government’s efforts to ease transportation challenges.
“To facilitate your travels, free train services and subsidized road transport costs on 144 routes nationwide have been made available,” he announced.
