President Bola Tinubu is set to appear at the National Assembly Complex today to present the 2025 budget proposal during a joint session of the legislature.
The budget, estimated at ₦47.96 trillion, received approval from the Federal Executive Council earlier this week.
According to The PUNCH, ahead of the President’s visit, the National Assembly has been placed under heightened security.
Personnel from the Department of State Services, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Sergeant-at-Arms have cordoned off access to the premises.
Entry is restricted to individuals directly involved in the budget proceedings.
In compliance with directives from the assembly’s management, staff members providing clerical and auxiliary services have been instructed to remain at home for the day. Businesses within the complex, including banks and food vendors, have also been temporarily shut down.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas will preside over the session. The budget is based on the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, which has already been passed by both chambers.
