President Bola Tinubu is set to preside over the All Progressives Congress National Caucus meeting today at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to The PUNCH, the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, confirmed this in an exclusive interview, assuring that both the Caucus and National Executive Committee meetings will proceed as planned.
“By the grace of God, the President will be there. He has already confirmed his attendance,” Basiru stated.
He also dismissed concerns that the meetings, initially postponed last year, might face another delay. “No, nobody is postponing anything. The National Caucus and the NEC meetings will still be held Tuesday and Wednesday as scheduled,” he assured.
The meetings, which were originally set for September 11 and 12, 2024, were suspended indefinitely without an official reason.
However, five months later, uncertainty surrounded when the NEC meeting would be rescheduled, with APC officials only responding with “very soon” whenever questioned about new dates.
A leaked memo signed by Basiru has now confirmed that the National Caucus will convene at the Presidential Villa banquet hall today, February 25, 2025, at 6 p.m., while the NEC meeting will follow at the party’s national secretariat on February 26.
The meetings are expected to be chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Muhammadu Buhari, APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and other key stakeholders in attendance.
