Beşiktaş and Reeder Samsunspor played out a goalless draw in a highly competitive encounter at Vodafone Park on the 20th matchday of the Trendyol Süper Lig on Saturday.
Despite numerous opportunities to break the deadlock, neither team managed to find the back of the net, resulting in a frustrating 0-0 stalemate.
The game started at a high pace, and the intensity remained throughout the 90 minutes.
Beşiktaş nearly took the lead in the 15th minute when Al-Musrati intercepted a pass in midfield, setting up Immobile for a long-range shot.
However, his effort rattled the crossbar, leaving the home crowd in disbelief as the ball bounced away from goal.
Samsunspor also had their fair share of chances. In the 40th minute, Van Drongelen made a long pass that led to a clash between Emirhan Topçu and Uduokhai, allowing Emre Kılınç to take a shot from outside the box.
However, Beşiktaş goalkeeper Mert Günok was equal to the task, pulling off a fantastic save to keep the game scoreless.
The match took a dramatic turn in the 64th minute when Rick Van Drongelen was shown a red card for a foul in midfield.
Reduced to 10 men, Samsunspor were forced to retreat, and Beşiktaş took more control of possession.
However, despite their numerical advantage, they were unable to convert their opportunities.
With this draw, Reeder Samsunspor remains atop the league standings with 37 points, while Beşiktaş stays in mid-table with 31 points.
Both sets of supporters were left frustrated by the lack of goals, despite plenty of moments that promised more.
