The Super Eagles are set to rekindle their rivalry with the Black Stars of Ghana in an upcoming Jollof Derby clash in England during the June international break.
Before facing Ghana, Nigeria will first take on Russia in a friendly before heading to England for the highly anticipated showdown.
“The team will first play Russia in a friendly before they fly out to England to take on Ghana,” an official told SCORENigeria.
The last meeting between the two West African giants ended in victory for the Super Eagles, who defeated Ghana 2-1 in a friendly match held in Morocco in March 2024.
The date and venue for the match are yet to be confirmed.
Coach Eric Chelle views the encounter as a crucial test ahead of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa in September.
The Super Eagles find themselves in a tough spot in the race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while Ghana currently lead their qualifying group after missing out on a place at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
