The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has officially confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon, signaling the conclusion of Ramadan and setting the date for Eid-el-Fitr on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
The announcement, delivered on Saturday night, came after multiple reports of moon sightings from different parts of Nigeria.
“With the sighting of the moon, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking the day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” declared the Sultan, who also serves as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.
Extending his congratulations to the Muslim community on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, he encouraged them to uphold the values of patience, piety, and charity beyond the sacred month.
