The 2025 Appropriation Bill recently unveiled by the Budget Office of the Federation reveals that the State House has earmarked N15.09bn for various expenses, including the procurement of tyres for bulletproof vehicles, SUVs, and operational cars, alongside the construction of an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants.
Additionally, a provision of N5.49bn has been proposed for the annual maintenance of the Presidential Villa.
This was disclosed in the bill released on Thursday, a day after President Bola Tinubu presented the budget, titled “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” to a joint session of the National Assembly.
The budget outlines an ambitious N49.70tn expenditure plan aimed at prioritizing defence, infrastructure, and human capital development, with a projected deficit of N13.39tn to be financed through borrowing.
Speaking at the National Assembly, President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s dedication to bolstering security and revamping the nation’s infrastructure.
The budget document indicates that N164m is designated for the purchase of tyres for bulletproof vehicles, SUVs, platform trucks, and other operational vehicles.
Meanwhile, N1.1bn is set aside for replacing SUVs, and N3.66bn will go toward acquiring operational vehicles for the State House.
Further breakdowns reveal that N127.86m is allocated for the purchase of SUVs for the President and Vice President, while the Chief of Staff to the President has a budget of N285m for motor vehicles.
Similarly, the Chief Security Officer to the President will receive N179.63m for security and operational vehicles.
In another development, N2.12bn has been allocated for honorariums and sitting allowances, and N1.83bn is proposed for constructing an office complex for Special Advisers and Senior Special Advisers.
Earlier reports from The PUNCH highlighted that the proposed budget includes allocations of N4.91tn for defence and security, with infrastructure projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Sokoto-Badagry Highway receiving N4.06tn.
Education will benefit from N3.52tn, funding Universal Basic Education and establishing nine new higher institutions.
The health sector is set to receive N2.48tn to enhance healthcare systems and ensure public hospitals are adequately supplied with essential drugs.
The 2025 budget is built on projections that inflation will drop from 34.6% to 15%, while the naira’s exchange rate is expected to improve from N1,700 per dollar to N1,500 per dollar.
