A fire erupted early Friday at a private retirement home in Amman, Jordan’s capital, killing six residents and leaving 60 others injured, including five in critical condition
According to the AFP, the blaze started on the first floor of the facility operated by the White Beds Society, which houses 111 residents, according to Social Development Minister Wafa Bani Mustafa.
The affected area spanned 80 square meters (approximately 860 square feet).
Minister Bani Mustafa confirmed that all evacuees are now safe, though the fire resulted in severe injuries for five individuals and moderate injuries for 55 others. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the fire’s cause.
The minister emphasized the importance of ensuring residents’ safety and stated that necessary measures would be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
