Controversial Nigerian musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, appeared before the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta on Thursday following his surrender to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba.
According to The PUNCH, Portable had been declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command over an incident that occurred on February 5, 2025.
He was accused of leading an attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development during an enforcement operation at his bar in the Sango Ota area.
The assault reportedly left the officials injured, while nine of Portable’s associates were arrested. The singer, however, evaded arrest until he turned himself in on Wednesday.
Born on March 12, 1994, in Abeokuta, Portable rose to fame in 2021 with his hit song ZaZoo Zehh, featuring Olamide and Poco Lee.
His career has been punctuated by several controversies, including disputes with other artists and accusations of violent behavior.
Reacting to the development, the Ogun State Government condemned Portable’s actions, labeling him a “serial dissident and unrepentant rascal.” Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order, stressing that such incidents would not be tolerated.
