Torino were once again held to a 1-1 draw, this time by Genoa, as Andrea Pinamonti’s strike cancelled out Morten Thorsby’s own goal.
Cesare Casadei made his debut in what proved to be a closely contested affair.
The Granata came into the match on an unusual streak, unbeaten since December 21 but managing only one victory in six games.
Ali Dembele returned to the lineup after serving a suspension, while Ivan Ilic was nearing a transfer.
However, Torino remained without long-term absentees Alieu Njie, Duvan Zapata, Perr Schuurs, and Emirhan Ilkhan.
New arrivals Cesare Casadei, Cristiano Biraghi, Eljif Elmas, and Amine Salama all started on the bench.
Genoa, on the other hand, missed Koni De Winter due to suspension, with Maxwel Cornet, Honest Ahanor, and Ruslan Malinovskyi out injured, while Mario Balotelli remained sidelined from the squad.
Nikola Vlasic tested Vanja Milinkovic-Savic early on with a powerful shot and forced another save from an angled drive following a Che Adams-led counter-attack.
An injury forced Torino into an early substitution, as Adrian Tameze limped off with a left ankle issue.
Vitinha’s impressive run from his own half nearly resulted in a goal, but Borna Sosa blocked the final attempt, while Yann Karamoh fired over from a promising position.
The deadlock was finally broken just before the halftime whistle. Valentin Lazaro sent in a dangerous corner, and Morten Thorsby, under pressure, inadvertently nodded the ball into his own net.
Genoa came close to equalising after the break when Stefano Sabelli made a critical interception to prevent Adams from tapping in, while Lazaro’s half-volley was comfortably gathered by Nicola Leali
Adams then struck the side-netting following a clever disguised pass from Vlasic.
The equaliser eventually arrived after Guillermo Maripan’s block denied Alessandro Zanoli’s powerful shot. Torino failed to heed the warning, and moments later, Saul Coco’s misstep while playing out from the back gifted the ball to Junior Messias, who teed up Andrea Pinamonti for a clinical finish into the near top corner.
Cesare Casadei and Cristiano Biraghi made their Torino debuts in the final 20 minutes. Casadei almost marked the occasion with a late winner, heading a corner just wide of the far post in stoppage time.
Controversy erupted late on when Adams and Antonio Sanabria both had penalty appeals in the same sequence. Sabelli appeared to tug Sanabria’s shirt, but the referee waved play on, and VAR opted not to intervene.
