ACF Fiorentina endured a frustrating night at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, as 10-man Torino battled back to secure a 1-1 draw in Serie A, prolonging the hosts’ winless league run to six matches.
The home side began brightly, testing Vanja Milinkovic-Savic early on. The Torino goalkeeper was at his best in the opening 15 minutes, making a stunning save to deny Albert Gudmundsson, who attempted to outwit him.
Shortly after, Pietro Comuzzo squandered a prime opportunity, heading wide from a well-delivered free-kick.
Fiorentina’s fortunes appeared to turn in their favour when Ali Dembele received a second yellow card for a cynical foul after just 33 minutes.
The numerical advantage paid off quickly, as La Viola broke the deadlock six minutes later. Moise Kean capitalized on a loose ball in the box, guiding a header into the top corner with precision.
Kean had the chance to double his tally moments before halftime when he found himself through on goal, but Milinkovic-Savic thwarted his effort with another impressive save.
Torino, though largely subdued in the first half, nearly equalized before Kean’s second chance when Yann Karamoh curled a shot narrowly wide following a defensive lapse by the hosts.
The second half presented a daunting challenge for Torino, trailing both in goals and numbers.
Fiorentina looked to press their advantage, with Kean again going close, only to see Milinkovic-Savic pull off another fine stop to deny his low shot heading for the bottom corner.
Despite Fiorentina’s dominance, Torino grew into the game, spurred on by the slender deficit.
Alieu Njie fired an effort just off target, before Gvidas Gineitis delivered a shock equalizer.
Exploiting more defensive disarray from the hosts, Gineitis found himself one-on-one with David de Gea and calmly slotted the ball home, silencing the home crowd.
La Viola pushed hard for a late winner, with Yacine Adli unleashing a strike from distance, but Milinkovic-Savic stood firm once more to secure a valuable point for the visitors.
Fiorentina’s struggles at home continue, with their winless streak extending to three league matches at the Artemio Franchi. Despite the setback, they temporarily move up to sixth in the standings.
Meanwhile, Torino’s resilience sees them extend their unbeaten away run to four games, climbing to 11th place in Serie A.
