Super Eagles midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, is set to return for Lazio in their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 clash against Viktoria Plzen.
The talented playmaker had been sidelined with an ankle injury sustained during Lazio’s goalless draw with Venezia, causing him to miss key matches, including their Coppa Italia defeat to Inter Milan and a crucial Serie A victory over AC Milan at the San Siro.
Lazio’s head coach, Marco Baroni, provided an update on Dele-Bashiru’s fitness ahead of the match at the Doosan Arena, also addressing the statuses of Castellanos and Hysaj.
“Castellanos and Dele could return before the break, but Hysaj’s recovery will follow a different timeline, and he is expected back immediately after the break,” Baroni stated.
Speaking about their opponents, Baroni acknowledged the challenges Lazio will face against Viktoria Plzen, emphasizing the Czech side’s aggressive style of play.
“We have analyzed Viktoria repeatedly and anticipate difficulties on the pitch because they play an aggressive and fast-paced style of football. They excel at vertical plays, have physical strength, and are aware of the challenges we will face. We will need to approach the game with the right mental and physical focus,” he said.
