Manchester City secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Sunday, breaking a five-game winless streak in the Premier League.
Goals from Savinho and Erling Haaland powered the defending champions to their first league triumph in over a month.
The win, only their second in 14 matches across all competitions, saw City rise to fifth in the standings with 31 points.
However, they remain 11 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, who hold two games in hand.
Leicester, on the other hand, are still mired in the relegation zone, sitting 18th.
Savinho opened the scoring in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a rebound after Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk parried Phil Foden’s long-range shot.
The Brazilian winger wasted no time, slamming the ball into the roof of the net from a sharp angle for his debut goal in City colours.
Haaland doubled the lead in the 74th minute, connecting with a looping cross from Savinho to head home.
The Norwegian striker, who has struggled for goals with just two in his last eight league appearances, made no mistake this time, sealing the much-needed victory for Pep Guardiola’s side.
