The father of Timilehin Ajayi, a gospel musician who gruesomely murdered his alleged girlfriend Salome Adaidu, has appealed to authorities for his son’s release.
Ajayi, who released an album ‘God of the Earth’ in 2020 is currently in police custody after he was caught with the severed head of the victim in a polythene bag.
The prime suspect who confessed to the murder has since been remanded by a Nasarawa State High Court.
As Nigerians mourn and demand justice for Salmoe’s murder, Ajayi’s father made an emotional appeal to the authorities and Nigerians for the release of his son during an interview with Channels Television.
“I am pleading with the government to help resolve this matter,” he said. “I want them to intervene and ensure my son is released.”
In contrast, Ajayi’s mother said she has chosen to leave the matter in the hands of the authorities.
“If someone did this to one of my daughters, how would I feel?” she asked. “The government can do whatever they deem appropriate. Everything is in their hands,” she added.
During police interrogation, Ajayi, who also identifies as a motivational speaker on TikTok, confessed to the crime.
He claimed he had been in a one-year relationship with Adaidu before her death and alleged that a heated argument led to a violent confrontation, during which Adaidu reportedly attempted to stab him with a knife.
In a viral video, the suspect admitted to keeping Adaidu’s remains in his residence after the altercation.
Adaidu’s burial was conducted recently, as shown in another viral clip featuring mourners in a solemn ceremony accompanied by heartfelt weeping.
