The prominent Islamic leader and Chairman of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam in Kaduna State, Jafaru Makarfi, has passed away at the age of 93.
The retired public servant died on Saturday night in Kaduna, leaving behind a legacy of service and leadership.
Suleman Abdulkadir, speaking on behalf of the family, announced the news, stating, “A veteran of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Makarfi joined the corporation in 1950 and had a distinguished career spanning over four decades. He was the first Northerner to hold the position of District Superintendent in the Western District of the NRC.”
Makarfi, who also served as a commissioner in the defunct Kaduna State, was a well-respected figure in both the Muslim community and public service.
The funeral prayer is scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna.
Makarfi is survived by six children. Suleman Abdulkadir offered condolences, saying, “We extend our condolences to his family, friends, JNI, and the entire Muslim community.”
