The Kano State Police Command has issued a warning to the public regarding intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning attacks on public gatherings in key areas of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna.
“The Kano State Police Command, in liaison with other security agencies, has received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning to launch attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State,” Haruna stated.
To address the situation, the police have advised residents to remain cautious and avoid crowded locations to allow security personnel to identify and neutralize potential threats.
“In response, we hereby urge residents to exercise caution and avoid crowded places and environments until further notice as a preventive measure to enable security operatives to identify and dislodge possible attackers,” the police spokesman said.
The command also highlighted the deployment of specialized security teams to enhance public safety.
“A team of experts from the command’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear units have been deployed to strategic locations and are on high alert. The statement urged residents to promptly report emergencies or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or contact the command directly via the provided phone numbers.
