Security operatives in Nasarawa State, including officers from the Police Command and other agencies, have apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in armed robbery and cattle rustling.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, the police received a report on Friday about an attack on a farm in Akwanga, where armed robbers assaulted a security guard with a machete and stole 34 cows.
“Acting based on the strength of the information, police operatives in collaboration with the military and Vigilante swiftly mobilized to the scene and rescued the injured security guard to the hospital for medical treatment and launched a manhunt for the criminals,” Nansel revealed.
The statement noted that the coordinated effort paid off later that day at approximately 1:16 p.m., when the suspects were located in Akun Forest, Nasarawa Eggon.
A confrontation ensued, leading to the arrest of two suspects, who sustained injuries during the operation. The stolen cattle were successfully recovered.
Commending the operation, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed applauded the collaboration between the security forces and the Vigilante group.
“The commissioner of police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed psc, mnips, has commended the synergy exhibited by the security operatives that led to the success recorded and appreciated the Vigilante group for their support, and thereafter urged them to sustain the tempo,” the statement noted.
