The Gombe State Police Command has announced a restriction on movement between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m., effective February 7, 2025, citing rising security threats in the state.
In a statement on Thursday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, revealed that intelligence reports had raised concerns about public safety, prompting the enforcement of the restriction.
“The intelligence reports reaching us indicate an increase in security threats within the state,” Abdullahi stated. “To address this, the Command has decided to restrict movement during the early hours of the day, beginning February 7, 2025.”
The police assured residents of their commitment to ensuring safety and urged the public to comply with the new directive.
“Our primary focus is the protection of lives and property. We appeal to the citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in making Gombe a secure place for all,” Abdullahi added.
He further advised parents and guardians to caution their children and wards, warning that violations of the restriction would not be tolerated.
“We urge parents to educate their wards on the importance of adhering to the directive, as defaulters will face strict consequences,” he warned.
The police encouraged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
