Protesting factions of the National Association of Nigerian Students created chaos at the National Hospital in Abuja on Friday.
Allegations of delayed medical attention for their injured colleagues from Thursday’s factional crisis prompted the factions to storm the hospital, resulting in patients fleeing their wards.
Heightened police presence aimed to restore order in the area. Reports revealed that a clash between NANS groups on Thursday led to injuries, necessitating the hospitalization of some members.
Subsequently, claims surfaced that medical personnel failed to promptly attend to the injured students, triggering the Friday attack on the hospital.
Additionally, intelligence led the Department of State Services to intercept some armed NANS members en route to a convention. Consequently, roads around the International Conference Centre and National Hospital were deserted, with police blocking sections of the highway.
When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer requested time to investigate before providing a response.
“I’ll make my findings and get back to you, please,” Adeh said.
