The Oyo State Police Command has issued a statement to address the recent social media reports concerning the alleged abduction of Alhaji Akeem Akintola, also known as “Kuso,” and another individual named Segun.
The police in a statement cited by our correspondent on Monday, the command’s spokesperson Adewale Osifeso categorically stated that these reports are misleading and completely false.
According to the police, both Alhaji Akeem Akintola and Segun, who are members of the Oyo State Park Management Systems, were actually invited by intelligence operatives from the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
The invitation was in connection with their alleged involvement in various criminal offenses, including criminal conspiracy, attempted murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms.
The statement reads in part, “The Oyo State Police Command wishes to clear the air on events surrounding the alleged abduction of one Alhaji Akeem Akintola aka “Kuso”, ‘m’ and another Segun, “m” (Surname yet unknown) both members of the Oyo State Park Management Systems as claimed in certain section of the Social Media as being mischievously untrue and a complete misinformation.
“In furtherance of the above, the duo were invited by intelligence operatives who were on lawful duty from the Force Headquarters, Abuja in connection with their alleged involvements in criminal offences, which include; Criminal Conspiracy, Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery and Unlawful possession of firearms.
“The complaint is under investigation as update will be provided in due course.
“While reassuring residents of Oyo State and indeed the general public about the Commands’ total commitment in securing lives and property, the Command also enjoins the good people of Oyo State to always provide timely and credible information capable of nipping crime in the bud to the Police at all times.
“As the saying goes,” if you see something, say something and the police would do something”.
