The Osun State Government has dismissed claims that local government services in the state have collapsed, describing the allegations as misinformation spread by opposition figures.
In a statement issued on Monday, Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, assured residents that essential services in health, education, and administration remain fully operational across all 30 local government areas and the Area Council.
Responding to concerns raised by opposition parties, Rasheed emphasized that local institutions such as schools and healthcare centers continue to function efficiently.
“Local schools and health centers are operating effectively and efficiently, with local patronage at an all-time high,” he stated.
The government also highlighted the governor’s recent visits to health centers, citing instances of successful childbirths in Telemu and Ido-Osun as evidence of the ongoing provision of medical services.
The administration further pointed to its progress in digitizing public services, noting that essential documents such as state of origin and local government identification certificates have been available online since 2023.
“Thousands of applicants have accessed their state of origin and local government identification online in real time from 2023 to date,” Rasheed noted.
The statement also challenged the credibility of the opposition’s allegations, questioning why the services were operational during their reported inspections if they had truly shut down.
“If such local services are truly shut down, how come they were open and operating when those illegal impostors conducted their comedic visitations?” the statement queried.
Urging residents to disregard misleading claims, the government reiterated its commitment to transparency and governance.
“As a pro-people leader, Governor Ademola Adeleke is committed to sustaining good governance and delivering democratic dividends across Osun State within the framework of the rule of law and the fear of God,” the statement concluded.
