The Osun Amotekun Corps recently apprehended two people, Yekini Sulikaleni, 30, and Toheeb Yekini, 35, on suspicion of burglarizing a shop in the Oje Oniyan area of Iwo town, Iwo Local Government area of the State.
The arrests, made around 11:30 am on Tuesday, were announced in a statement by the Osun Amotekun Commander, Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (rtd.).
“The suspects were arrested after the operatives of Amotekun Iwo Command received a distress call around 11:30 am about their operation.
“Our operatives swung into action immediately and apprehended the suspects on-the-spot,” he said.
During interrogation, the suspects, Yekini Sulikaleni and Toheeb Yekini, confessed to the burglary and revealed that this was not their first offense. Sulikaleni admitted to being a repeat offender who had previously served a prison sentence for a similar crime.
Following their confession, the suspects were handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution, as stated by Adewinmbi.
The Amotekun Commander emphasized the importance of community involvement in assisting security agencies by providing valuable information to combat crime and ensure security in the state.
