Six suspects have been arrested in connection to a bloody communal clash between Iwo and Odo-Ekun communities in the Ishin Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The communal clash which occurred on Monday, led to the death of an unidentified farmer, while one other person was seriously injured.
Spokesman for the state police command, Okasanmi Ajayi, who confirmed the incident, said policemen were on the ground to ensure law and order had been restored in the warring communities.
He further disclosed that an investigation had begun into the matter.
The two communities had been engaged in an age-long boundary conflict that had defied several peaceful interventions.
Trouble started when a farmer from Odo Ekun reportedly went to one of the disputed areas but was accosted and seriously beaten by some members of the Iwo community.
However, the people of the Odo Ekun community mobilised their members and rescued the farmer.
The development was said to have gone out of control, leading to the destruction of property and the alleged killing of the farmer.
