The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has swiftly intervened in a petroleum tanker accident that occurred at Guaraka along Kaduna Road, deploying tactical teams to prevent a potential fire outbreak and maintain order.
In a statement released on Saturday, NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi confirmed that officials responded immediately to secure the area and prevent unauthorized fuel scooping, which could have led to an explosion.
Deputy Commandant General of Operations, Philip Ayuba, led the emergency response team, emphasizing the Corps’ dedication to disaster prevention and public safety.
“As soon as we received intelligence about the tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit that had overturned, we promptly deployed our operational and disaster management teams to secure the scene and prevent any illegal fuel scooping,” Ayuba stated.
He added that the NSCDC worked closely with the Federal Road Safety Commission to manage traffic and control the crowd to avoid further risks.
“Our collaboration with the FRSC ensured smooth traffic flow and prevented unnecessary congestion,” Ayuba explained.
“We want to reassure the public that the situation is under control, and our emergency team remains on the ground to avert any further incidents.”
The NSCDC assured residents that vigilance and preparedness would be maintained to safeguard lives and property.
