Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has announced plans for the construction of a $2 million poultry farm in Bosso Local Government Area as part of efforts to boost livestock development.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the project aligns with the Federal Government’s livestock initiative, with Niger State selected as a pilot location.
Speaking on Friday in Maikunkele, the LGA headquarters, during a stakeholders’ engagement on his state-wide project monitoring tour, Bago detailed the numerous road projects underway in the area.
He urged residents to support his administration and cooperate by relocating from properties affected by the construction to expedite the projects, assuring them of full compensation.
Highlighting the growing population in Bosso LGA, the governor revealed plans to build a General Hospital to ease the burden on the one in Minna.
He also promised to address electricity challenges in Kodo.
Bago praised Sen. Mohammed Musa, representing Niger East Senatorial District, for his contributions to the community, including plans for a mini stadium and a skills acquisition center in Bosso. Additionally, he noted that 20 residents would benefit from a scholarship program in Singapore, facilitated by the senator.
Commending other stakeholders, the governor acknowledged Baraje Kure, the representative for Bosso/Paikoro Federal Constituency, for supporting the administration’s development efforts. The Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba, also emphasized the administration’s dedication to meeting the needs of Bosso residents, calling for their continued support.
Senator Musa lauded the state government’s focus on agriculture, highlighting Bosso’s designation as a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone, which is expected to generate significant employment opportunities and enhance the area’s well-being.
Kure further pledged to back the administration with a N1 billion investment and support farmers with fertilizer and other agricultural inputs, reinforcing his commitment to the region’s progress.
