The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted a consignment of illicit drugs cleverly hidden inside equipment at the Lagos airport.
The agency revealed the seizure on Sunday, cautioning travellers to be vigilant about items they are asked to carry.
Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, shared videos of the contraband on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the innovative techniques used by traffickers to evade detection.
“Drug concealments NDLEA officers find these days are enough to make you suspect anyone asking you to deliver a package when travelling or collect anything from abroad at any logistics or courier service,” Babafemi posted. “E get why. This video shows the latest seizure by NDLEA in Lagos.”
The agency also issued a public warning to travellers to exercise caution when accepting luggage or parcels, as the contents may include illegal substances.
A spokesperson for the NDLEA stated: “We urge everyone to take personal responsibility for items in their possession, especially when travelling. Ignorance of the contents is not a valid defense.”
