The National Assembly Service Commission has appointed Kamoru Ogunlana as the new Clerk to the National Assembly, effective February 2, 2025.
Ogunlana’s appointment follows the retirement of the outgoing Clerk, Mr. Sani Magaji Tambuwal, who will be on pre-retirement leave until the transition is complete.
The appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by NASC Executive Chairman, Engr. Ahmed Amshi, and announced by NASC Deputy Director Emmanuel Anyigor on Wednesday.
According to the letter, the decision was reached at the Commission’s 610th meeting held on November 6, 2024.
“The National Assembly Service Commission, at its 610th meeting…approved your appointment as Clerk to the National Assembly, effective from 2nd February 2025,” the letter stated, emphasizing Ogunlana’s administrative expertise and urging him to uphold the trust placed in him through diligent service.
A separate letter from the Commission recognized Tambuwal’s valuable contributions to the National Assembly Service. “As you proceed on your pre-retirement leave, Mr. Kamoru Ogunlana will oversee the affairs of the office…while working closely with you to ensure a smooth transition,” it read.
Before this role, Ogunlana served as Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly, gaining significant experience in legislative administration.
His appointment marks a new chapter for the Assembly’s administrative leadership.
