The Nigerian Air Force, under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, has carried out a successful airstrike on Boko Haram insurgents in Degbewa and Chikide, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The PUNCH reported that sources on the ground confirmed that the precision air operation, conducted around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, specifically targeted top militant leaders following intelligence reports of a large gathering of insurgents in the area.
The air raid struck key hideouts controlled by Ali Ngulde, a notorious Boko Haram commander.
Military insiders disclosed that multiple terrorists were neutralized, while several others sustained injuries in the assault.
Efforts to obtain additional details from the spokesperson for Operation Hadin Kai, Lt. Col Jingina, were unsuccessful, as he neither answered nor returned calls from our correspondent.
Meanwhile, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, has decried the surge in terrorist activities in his constituency, particularly the wave of killings, kidnappings, and attacks on communities.
In a statement released in Kaduna on Wednesday, the senator expressed deep concern over the worsening insecurity, highlighting the immense suffering and hardship it has inflicted on residents.
He specifically pointed out the recent abduction of 22 individuals, mainly women and children, in separate incidents in Kauru Local Government Area, Southern Kaduna.
“These atrocities against our people must not continue unchecked. And it must stop now,” Katung stated.
“I am fully aware of the provisions of Section 14(2)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, which declares that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.
“I will continue to do whatever is necessary to secure the lives of our people.
“I appeal to the security agencies to redouble their efforts in ensuring the security of lives and property across communities in Southern Kaduna.”
The senator further urged residents to collaborate with security operatives by providing useful information that could lead to the capture of criminals and their accomplices.
