Popular skit maker and activist, Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo, Mr Macaroni, has set the record straight regarding his financial difficulties, emphasizing that he is not looking for donations or assistance.
Speaking with Saturday Beats, the comedian explained that his decision to share his story was purely to educate and caution others, not to seek help.
“I’m not accepting any help or donations. I shared the story majorly because I wanted people to learn from my mistakes,” he stated.
Recently, Mr Macaroni stunned many by revealing his financial troubles, leading to an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues. In an emotional social media post, he admitted to being entangled in debts exceeding N500 million due to a failed investment and an elaborate scam between 2021 and 2022.
He also acknowledged that financial missteps, including excessive generosity, contributed to his predicament.
The burden of these debts, compounded by betrayal from a trusted friend, left him deeply shaken. However, he managed to find the strength to push through, leaning on his faith and the unwavering support of loved ones.
Following his revelation, fellow activists and celebrities rallied around him with messages of encouragement.
Social activist Rinu Oduala praised his generosity, stating, “So sorry about this and I can attest to your financial kindness, not recklessness. Even in the midst of all these, you will still send money. May the love in our hearts be greater than all hate.” Political analyst Morris Monye added, “Sorry about this. I used to share my pains too but I’m learning to hold it all in. God has given us all Grace to overcome challenges.”

Your good heart came through for you my brother.” Actress Kehinde Bankole applauded his transparency, saying, “This is a high level of accountability. Leadership of our own lives. So sorry to hear all you went through. I say daily, ‘everyone is dealing with something.’ May more financial, spiritual, and mental healing continually lift you and all of us who may need it.”
Other entertainers also lent their voices. Hypeman Do2dtun noted, “Vulnerability is a type of strength that breaks everything that decides to take advantage of your peace. You have opened up and you have just attained another level of growth.”
Actress Theonlychigul simply assured him, “Debo, we love you.” Veteran actor Ejike Asiegbu added, “It is well with you son, God got your back.” Broda Shaggi encouraged him, saying, “Like I said, we all will be tested. The secret of life is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.”
