The former undisputed heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson, is contemplating a surprising match with Anthony Joshua if he can defeat the YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul.
Tyson is set to make his comeback this November, taking on Jake Paul in a controversial crossover fight.
Since his exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. in November 2020 during the Covid pandemic, Tyson has been rigorously training for his return to the ring.
The 57-year-old legend is ultimately aiming to step into the ring with Joshua in a charity bout.
However, he must first contend with Paul, who will be 31 years his junior on fight night.
“I’m very interested [in fighting Joshua],” Tyson shared with TMZ.
“If doing that means we can have a bigger charity exponent, well so be it, I’m down to do that, too. I would love to [fight Joshua]. That would be mind-blowing.”
Meanwhile, Joshua has expressed concerns about Tyson’s health as he prepares for his comeback.
The boxing community has reacted strongly to the announcement of Tyson vs. Paul, with many fans voicing their disapproval of Paul.
“[Mike Tyson is] older now,” Joshua commented on The Jonathan Ross Show. “I pray that he comes out healthy. I think Jake Paul because of youth – that’s the only thing.”
Despite the controversy, Joshua surprisingly supports Paul’s gimmick-driven matches.
Initially scheduled for July 20, the fight between Tyson and Paul has been postponed to November 15 due to a medical issue Tyson faced.
In his most recent fight, Joshua delivered a powerful second-round knockout against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia this past March.
