Paris Saint-Germain continued their dominant Ligue 1 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Toulouse on Saturday, thanks to a decisive second-half goal from Fabian Ruiz.
The win extended PSG’s unbeaten run and maintained their commanding 10-point lead at the top of the table.
Luis Enrique’s side, yet to suffer a league defeat this season, now sit comfortably with 56 points, well ahead of Marseille, who thrashed Saint-Etienne 5-1 on the same day.
The first half saw multiple opportunities for PSG to break the deadlock, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Lee Kang-in, Desire Doue, and Lucas Hernandez all testing Toulouse’s defense.
However, the hosts managed to keep them at bay, ensuring the score remained level at halftime.
It took 52 minutes for the breakthrough to arrive. Willian Pacho’s header clattered off the crossbar, and the rebound fell perfectly for Fabian Ruiz, who calmly slotted home from close range to give PSG the lead.
Following their 3-0 triumph over Brest in the first leg of their Champions League tie on Tuesday, PSG controlled the remainder of the match, securing their sixth consecutive victory across all competitions. They now turn their attention to the second leg against Brest on Wednesday.
PSG’s unbeaten start to the season has placed them in an exclusive club. Only three teams have previously managed such a feat in Ligue 1 history.
The Parisiens themselves achieved it in 1985-86 (first 26 games) and 2015-16 (first 27), while Nantes set the record in 1994-95 by going 32 games unbeaten. Each of those teams went on to win the title.
Additionally, PSG have now gone 35 consecutive away games without defeat in the league. The only club in Europe’s top five leagues with a longer streak is Milan, who remained unbeaten in 38 away matches under legendary coach Arrigo Sacchi between 1991 and 1993.
