The Lagos State Government has announced the immediate closure of the pedestrian bridge connecting Oshodi Bus Terminals 2 and 3, citing concerns about its safety and structural integrity.
In a statement released on Friday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, highlighted the government’s decision as a precautionary measure to protect pedestrians.
“The closure is necessary to safeguard lives while a comprehensive structural integrity assessment is conducted to determine whether the bridge requires repairs or reconstruction,” Osiyemi said.
The commissioner also directed the contractor responsible for constructing the terminal to install concrete barriers at the bridge’s entrances to prevent access.
“This step is critical to ensuring the safety of all users until the bridge’s condition is fully assessed,” he added.
Osiyemi urged commuters to use an alternative pedestrian bridge located about 30 metres away during the assessment period.
