The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has taken decisive action by closing two establishments in Ikorodu for breaching environmental and noise pollution regulations.
Landcraft Industries Nigeria, based in Odogunyan, was shut down due to significant environmental pollution, while the Word of Light Christ Ministry (Camp of Light) in Oriokuta faced closure for continuous noise pollution.
The enforcement operation, led by Babatunde Gbenga, Deputy Director of the Enforcement Department, highlights LASEPA’s dedication to enforcing the State Environmental Laws of 2017.
According to Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, the closures came after multiple warnings to both establishments went unheeded.
“This seal-off demonstrates LASEPA’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the environment and public health,” Ajayi stated.
He stressed the agency’s preparedness to implement stringent measures against any establishment failing to comply with environmental regulations and urged all businesses in Lagos State to prioritize environmental sustainability and adhere to the regulations to avoid similar enforcement actions.
