The Lagos State Police Command said it arrested a 32-year-old man, identified as Yahaya Ibrahim, over illegal possession of firearm in Igbo Elerin, in the state.
State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement via X, formerly Twitter handle on New Year day.
Hundeyin explained that the suspect and two others were stopped at about 2am in Igbo Elerin area of Lagos, noting that all three fled but Abubakar was eventually arrested.
He disclosed that one locally fabricated double-barrel gun, one expended and one live cartridge were found in his Ibrahim’s bag.
The police spokesperson said investigation on the matter is on going.
Hundeyin wrote, “32-year-old Abubakar Yahaya Ibrahim and two others were stopped by police officers at about 2am in Igbo Elerin area. Though all three fled, Abubakar was eventually apprehended and searched. Found in his bag were a locally fabricated double-barrel firearm, one expended and one live cartridge.”
“Investigation is ongoing,” he added.
